Bethesda is a master of games. The Elder Scrolls franchise is beyond inspiring for gamers, artists, musicians–you name it. My first Elder Scrolls game was Morrowind.. I have great memories of it, but I never made it far in the story.
Compare that with Skyrim–where I clock in around 700 hours or more. I haven’t spent much time in ESO. Bethesda launched Elder Scrolls: Blades several months ago. It’s a mobile game and is VERY impressive, especially for being on mobile.
I was delighted to be in the beta. I can’t say enough great things about it. Here’s an image I created of the Enchanter’s Hut.
To specify–Bethesda designed this building. I loved the look of it, so I tried my hand at recreating it.
This is the sketch I made of the Enchanter’s Hut. I’ve got a screenshot of Bethesda’s in-game Hut to the right of my sketch as a reference.
Although I haven’t realized it yet, my sketch has some perspective/design issues. Ahh!
This is the refined, polished lineart from my version of Bethesda’s Enchanter’s Hut.
Can you spot the flaws? 🙂
I learned a lot from this project, despite my mistakes!
I’ve colored the Hut. Nothing fancy here yet–just working out how the base colors should look.
As an alternative, I could have rendered the stones all the same way. It would have made it easier to change the colors as well if I ever wanted to do so.
This is an image of the first layer of textures that I added to the Hut. I’m still pretty proud of how the lighting and shadows look!
This is the final version of the Enchanter’s Hut. I am still so proud of this project. I even love the textured background.
Is it common for an artist to love one of their pieces?
Special thanks to Bethesda for supplying such a beautiful muse. No copyright infringement intended! I fully acknowledge that the original belongs to Bethesda. I created this piece to honor the beauty of their artwork and games.
Here’s the time-lapse from the Enchanter’s Hut!
