Overview
Averi Jaye’s first novel in the Everi series is one wild ride. It’s a fun read, and features some memorable characters and moments. I’ve read my fair share of novels, but I must say that this one had at least two plot twists that I did not anticipate!
Character Development
I can’t go too far into this without ruining one of the best surprises, so I’ll be broad: two of the main characters undergo significant development, which adds interest to the book. Both are adequately explained in a way that makes sense to the reader.
This book features memorable, intriguing races/nationalities–the diversity is really fresh and enjoyable.
Plot Development
The plot itself is solid, and isn’t one that’s been rehashed. There were rarely instances that I was unsure about what was happening, or had a question about something that happened (and wasn’t explained).
Overall Vibes
Overall, this novel was fun to read, and the ending definitely set the stage for the second novel. There were some grammatical issues, but they didn’t detract from the story. This novel has a lot of characters, so pay attention!
